POSITION STATEMENT

  1. Action – Continue the implementation of the VCTA committee plans for 2020. I believe the plans were/are excellent and having KPIs make the monitoring easy.
  2. Cooperation – Increase cooperation between Sections, Chapters, National Societies and among R8 committees under VC TA (Action for Industry, Chapter Coordination, Conference Coordination, Professional and Educational Activities, Standards Coordination). I’d motivate committee chairs to have closer cooperation with Section Chairs, and major IEEE committees to understand their work better and serve their needs.
  3. Experience – Share technical activities best practices of Sections and chapters. I’d provide regular information about IEEE Center of Leadership Excellence, courses, trainings, webinars for Sections’ leadership. We should use our existing resources in a more effective way.
  4. International outlook – Bring the lessons learned of other IEEE Regions, TAB or MGA to the operation of R8. I’d use my international network to benchmark our activities and help Region 8 volunteers to be more involved in IEEE committees, projects.
  5. Personal motivation – I joined IEEE when I graduated. I attended two Student Branch Congresses and GOLD meetings. I was active in the local Section and I was member of some ComSoc or IEEE global committees. I’d like to express my willingness and dedication to contribute to IEEE Region 8 as IEEE became a part of my professional life in the last 20 years and I think it is the right time to give back to IEEE Region 8.
