This lecture introduces Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) as an\n active le
arning approach in web security education. At Subotica Tech\,\n CBL has b
een applied through hands-on challenges where students\n individually sol
ve tasks\, submit their code and explanatory reports\,\n and later reflec
t on solutions in joint discussions. Through these\n challenges\, student
s explore and mitigate real-world vulnerabilities\n such as SQL Injection
\, XSS\, and CSRF in a controlled PHP environment\,\n while practicing se
cure coding techniques. The assignments also\n integrate broader topics r
 elevant to information security\, including:<br />\n <br /> · Filtering a
nd validating user input data<br /> · Secure file\n uploads and user mana
 gement<br /> · Secure sessions\, cookies\, and API\n endpoints<br /> · Cr
yptography and token-based authentication<br /> ·\n Web server and direct
 ory protection<br /> · IoT and mobile application\n security<br /> · Data
base hardening and SQL injection prevention<br />\n · Restricting unsafe
dynamic function calls and analyzing metadata in\n media files<br />\n <
br /> In the second part of the presentation\, participants will have\n t
he opportunity to attempt solving selected tasks themselves\, followed\n
by a discussion of different solutions and approaches. The goal is to\n d
emonstrate how CBL can effectively engage learners while\n strengthening
 both technical knowledge and security awareness.<br />\n <br />\n <em>Az
  előadó</em>\n <br /> Zlatko Čović is coming from Subotica\, Serbia and h
olds a PhD in\n Computer Science. He holds the position of college profes
sor at\n Subotica Tech-College of Applied Sciences. At the same time\, he
also\n serves as Assistant Director for Public Relations and Students at
 \n Subotica Tech.</p>
